Original band member Andy Taylor of Duran Duran has revealed he is taking the innovative drug Lutetium-177 for Prostate Cancer. He says it has given him an extra five years of life.
Andy Taylor the British guitarist and songwriter best known for his work with the rock band Duran Duran. He was born on February 16, 1961, in Cullercoats, England. Andy Taylor was a significant and influential member of Duran Duran during the band’s 1980s heyday.
Andy was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer (known as stage four) in 2015, and went public with his condition in 2022. Andy has said an innovative drug Lutetium-177, used to treat his prostate cancer has extended his life “for five years”.
He joined Duran Duran in 1980 and became their lead guitarist. His powerful guitar playing contributed to the band’s distinct sound and played a vital role in their success during that era. Some of the well-known songs he worked on with Duran Duran include “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Rio,” and “Union of the Snake.”
Andy Taylor left Duran Duran in 1986 but returned for a short period in the early 2000s. He also pursued a solo career and released albums such as “Thunder” in 1987. While he is best known for his work with Duran Duran, he has continued to be involved in various musical projects over the years.
He’s now back to star in the latest Duran Duran album “Danse Macabre” released on 27th October 2023. It has a very “Halloweeny Feel” to the cover. As a life long follower of Duran Duran, I wish him well!
